Breedon Cement Ltd are looking for a Maintenance technician apprentice to complete a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship. Our team of engineers & craftsperson’s specialise in designing, building, operating & maintaining an array of impressive machines & large structures such as Mobile plant, Crushers, Kilns, various types of conveyors & grinding mills. By learning a wide breadth of practical skills such as welding, fabrication, machining & hand skills the candidate will learn how to, and be able to, strip down, rebuild, service and repair large and impressive machinery.

Role & responsibilities

During your apprenticeship you will gain experience in the below:

  • Improving the workplace with respect to health, wellbeing safety & environment
  • Weld, fabricate, use machine tools, technical drawing and strip down, rebuild, service and repair large machinery
  • Machine Installation & commissioning
  • Planned / unplanned & preventative machinery maintenance
  • Manufacture & Repair of engineering components
  • Trouble shooting and fault finding to solve issues with machinery
  • Engineering machinery Optimisation & Improvements
  • Gain experience & confidence in transferable soft skills so you feel comfortable working with your own initiative or part of a team

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
