Job description:

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions are looking for an apprentice CNC machinist to complete a level 3 machining technician apprenticeship. This CNC machining engineering apprentice programme will form part of our succession planning for the future. The candidate will be trained, supported, and monitored throughout the process. Joining our team as a CNC machining apprentice, the candidate's role will be focused on learning about the metal cutting processes on site.

As part of the programme, the candidate will learn how to:

• Check materials before starting work
• Become competent using technical information
• Set up a range of work-holding devices including chucks, fixtures and vices
• Programme, set and operate CNC machinery
• Complete machining operations
• Adjust a range of machining parameters to produce products with a high degree of accuracy and finish
• Use a range of measuring equipment

The CNC Machinist Apprentice is responsible to the Production Supervisor for the efficient and effective control of the delegated production area

• The prime responsibility is to ensure that all products are processed to acceptable quality standards and thereby achieve customer satisfaction
• Must work within agreed cost margins
• Coping with a work-load dictated by an unknown daily customer requirement requires a particular set of skills

Running and maintaining CNC machine

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

• GCSE English language C or 4 or above
• GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
