Description:

You will complete a comprehensive 3 Year programme in Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance.

Tasks you will carry out:

  • Learn basic engineering knowledge and skills
  • Understand and appreciate basic Health and Safety requirements
  • Work alongside skilled Maintenance Engineers to provide you with the knowledge needed to become fully trained
  • General maintenance of the site, including machinery.
  • You will also be expected to respond quickly to changing demands throughout your working day
  • Working to quality standards required for the components
  • Fault finding and repairing electrical devices

This is a great opportunity for apprentices to get hands on experience in the foundry industry in a British owned company competing in a global market in business for over 135 years. We make iron castings of many descriptions for a wide variety of international customers such as BMW, Mercedes, Daimler, Borg, Castings and GT. We have four foundries on site with 460 personnel and there will be plenty of opportunities for you to look at the company as a whole and you will be mentored directly by our Senior Engineers.

If you join engineering, then as part of our enthusiastic engineering team you will be working hands-on alongside skilled engineers maintaining and improving modern automated manufacturing equipment, supplying products to prestigious customers in the automotive and rail sectors. You will be involved in root cause and failure analysis as part of a Total Productive Maintenance approach alongside gaining practical knowledge and skills as well as further training and development to learn the technical aspects of engineering.

What we offer:

  • £5.10 per hour in the first year based on a 38 hour working week
  • Salary review at the end of first year based on: performance and competence in the role, achievement of a satisfactory progress report from AMRC, 96% attendance record and 100% time-keeping   
  • Travel bursary will be considered depending on travel arrangements
  •  25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays in the first year and following this the local company arrangement will apply.

Criteria Requirments:

The chosen candidate must have 5 GCSE's or equivalent at Grade C or grade 4-9 under the new education grade system effective from 2016/2017 above, Must include Maths and English.
