Material Selection is an important part of the design and manufacture of components. Selection based on the property requirements is important but it should also take into account the fabrication and processing routes to be used. By doing this you may be able to select materials that will reduce costs and lead times.

Who Should Attend?

The course is aimed at personnel who work in engineering, production and design and who manufacture or supply engineering components. Although some basic metallurgical knowledge would be an advantage it is not essential. Practical engineering examples will be used to illustrate and explain the principles of material selection.
Learning Outcomes:
• Guidance on the factors that should be considered when selecting materials
• Explaining what factors help to determine the costs of materials
• Showing how material selection can assist in the fabrication,
welding and repair of components
• Providing information on the properties of commonly used engineering
materials thus enabling you to select the best material for your application.

Course Duration:
1 Day
