MACAW Engineering is a leading independent engineering consultancy working closely with global operators of oil and gas production facilities, pipelines and utility systems to reduce risk, maintain integrity and extend the service life of client assets. With many of our Principal Engineering Consultants able to draw on more than 25 years of industry experience in materials, corrosion, welding and asset integrity.
MACAW Engineering applies this knowledge to develop and provide cost-effective solutions to our clients across the energy sector. These solutions are often employed in maintaining the integrity of ageing assets and extending their service life.
Where new developments are proposed by operators (frequently those involving existing infrastructure), we identify and analyse technical issues that may impact on the future integrity of a project in order to specify an optimised plan.
MACAW has extensive knowledge and experience of:
- Integrity management.
- Corrosion mechanisms.
- Materials (carbon steels, CRA materials and polymers).
- Coating systems.
- Inspection methods.
- Welding consultancy.
- Failure investigation.
Materials Processing Institute
Materials Processing Institute is an Open-Access Technology Centre serving organisations which work with materials, materials processing or energy. We specialise in challenging processes, particularly those involving high temperatures, hostile environments and high specification materials.
Steel courses have been developed by the Materials Processing Institute over the last 70 years.
During this time, scientists, researchers and engineers have been at the heart of major technological changes within the steel industry. The institute’s ongoing research programmes have been instrumental in shaping the industry towards the state-of-the-art processes and equipment currently being used.
The Institute has expertise in the area of heavy end processing; from raw materials, cokemaking, sintering and scrap, through to oxygen and electric steelmaking, casting, rolling, reheating and finishing.

Element Materials Technology
We couldn't talk about ourselves without first saying a thing or two about the challenges our clients face every day. It's their constant growth and innovation, after all, that have come to define who we are and what we do.
Whether in the Aerospace & Defense, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, or Transportation industry, our clients achieve their long-term business goals by relying daily on the integrity of details. For these heavily regulated and ever changing industries, details are the building blocks of success. And among the details is the most significant one of all: the need to manage even the smallest details without losing sight of the big picture. It's a challenge we've accepted and excelled at time and again during our 180 years of experience.
Today, we're a global network of laboratories with experts specializing in materials testing, product qualification testing and failure analysis. With a team of 1000 scientists, engineers and technicians working in laboratories located throughout the USA and Europe, we're a single go-to partner for quality, on-time materials technology solutions. And working one-on-one to manage project details and maximize their impact on an entire supply chain, we take customer service to an unprecedented level.
Customer closeness and a solution-oriented approach are our strategic cornerstones, together with verifiable and documented improvements in your total cost of production.
We value long term relationships as it is possible to gain a better understanding of your challenges and allows us to actively contribute to your development.
A comprehensive range of cutting tools is another central component of our strategy and the quality and innovation built into our tools is the key to your profitable production. In order to offer the best total solutions we also provide technical support, demonstrations, technical advice, new ideas and practical experience.
